A week of fun and sun and a wee bit of Moroccan culture

A group of 9 of us met up for a week of fun and sun and a wee bit of Moroccan culture.

We based ourselves in a villa on Amelkis golf course which has a handy clubhouse open for lunch.

The first day’s highlight saw us hitting Jemma el Fna square for a food tour tasting experience.

We started at the Sky bar at sunset for a couple of beers for the view before heading down to the main square.

All the stalls set up with everything from Couscous and pastilla, merguez sausages, salada fish and sheep’s heads complete with eyes! All delicious and so cheap!

Some of our group were brave enough to get an early alarm call and join an early morning balloon flight over the Atlas mountains followed by a Berber breakfast. This experience is an absolute bucket list tick off and not to be missed.

We also took a day trip up to Imil and the Atlas Mountains with a hike and waterfall tour. The scenery and colours are spectacular and finding out about the Berber way of life is fascinating.

Back in Marrakech Majorelle gardens are an enchanting vibrant oasis with rare flora, lush foliage and the place oozes calm and serenity, a complete contrast to the souk.

There is so much to do and see in Marrakech, we only scratched the surface… We will be back!
