Bespoke safari in Tanzania followed by a relaxing week 0n Zanzibar for honeymoon couple.
The Brief
Mike and Sarah contacted me for advice about their honeymoon. They were unsure where to go and wanted something special that would be a unique experience for both of them. They are outdoor types and also wanted some relaxation time at the end to get over the stress of the wedding.
The Solution
Having never been to Africa we suggested a Tanazania safari followed by a week on Zanzibar.
Their wedding was in July, the perfect time to jet off in search of the wilderbeest migration and perfect for the beaches and beautiful waters of the Indian Ocean on the island of Zanzibar.
We recommended flying into Kilmanjaro via a connection in Amsterdam from their local airport, which meant less hassle than travelling to a London airport.
The Trip
Mike and Sarah checked into Elewanta Arusha Coffee lodge which is an idyllic retreat tucked away in an extensive coffee plantation on the outskirts of Arusha. A massage each in the spa and an alfresco dinner on the garden terrace rejuvenated them from the flight.
The next day they were transferred to the airport to board a domestic flight to the Serengeti for the start of their safari adventure. We chose Singita Mara River luxury tented camp, which has fantastic game viewing without compromising on luxury.
Mike and Sarah took an early morning sunrise hot air balloon flight which was just magical; the bright orange haze visible for miles across the savannah.
After five nights game viewing, fine dining and being treated to a spectacular wildebeest migration sighting they took a light aircraft flight from the Serengeti to the exoctic Indian Ocean island of Zanzibar. They followed our recommendation and stayed at Breezes Beach Club and Spa for the next Seven nights. Set on a white sandy beach with coral reefs teeming with colourful fish, it’s a great place to unwind.
After a few days of cocktails and snorkelling they headed off to visit Unesco listed Stone Town with it’s Omani forts, sultan palaces and teeming bazaars.
Armed with a some local souvenirs the couple returned to Breezes and spent a day on the water taking a deep sea fishing trip and snorkelling amongst the coral.
Their finalexperience was a spice tour visiting farms that grow Turmeric, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Black Peppers, Cloves, Nutmegs; so informative and a great adventure.
Our honeymoon was organised perfectly. Thank you! We would never have thought of Tanzania and Zanzibar ourselves!
We were so lucky to see part of the splendid migration. It blew us away! The hospitality was outstanding, we felt we were treated like royalty! Zanzibar island was just gorgeous. The staff are lovely and friendly and we really enjoyed the trips off site too. The snorkelling is a world of colours. We couldn’t believe the colours of the fish too!
Thank you
